Spot the Diagnosis -59

(1) A patient has come with a fracture of tibia .The fracture is
transverse and the bone looks thickened.
Ans.Paget's disease.

(2) A radiograph of a patient of gall bladder stone was shown to you .there is a trilucent  gas in
the center of the stone.
Ans.Mercedes Benz or seagulls sign.

3) A patient has come with a plain radiograph. The gall bladder is rather radio opaque.
Ans:- The opacity is due to filling of the gall bladder with the mixture of calcium carbonate or calcium phosphate.This occurs when gradual obstruction of cystic duct and common bile duct and called limey bile.This occurs in case of chronic pancreatitis and carcinoma of head of pancreas.

4)A patient of thirty has come with a bony swelling.On pressure on the swelling there is an egg cell crackling.
Ans:- osteoclastoma.

5) A boy of twelve has come with a swelling of bone.the swelling is of variables in consistency.
Ans:- osteogenic sarcoma.

(6) A patient has come. With a swelling which pits on pressure and there is fluctuation.
Ans.Deep seated abscess.
